Human Entertainment

It wasn’t that long ago when the papers read that the boy was shot for entertainment. A few local boys thought that it would be a grand form of entertainment to start hunting more than just squirrels, and they started hunting people. What was most disturbing about the accounts was that the boys were asked on the stand if they found the entertainment they sought and they had said they did. Incidents like this make people pause and wonder why we can be such a harsh people and how to get back to being a loving people. In many cases, our entertainment does not involve the pain of another, let alone their death. The papers read that they looked like such normal boys.

There is a question of access, as if there is some reason that these boys had access to a hunting rifle was the reason for their decision. It seems that what is really part of the problem is not access, but lack of discipline. Discipline comes from the parent, a taught instilled dedication to doing the right thing. Discipline is self motivated, and children who decide for just a moment to hunt a person are definitely lacking discipline and have a skewed view of entertainment. And the paper said that they looked like such normal boys. Were they supposed to sport shirts that read WILL SHOOT FOR ENTERTAINMENT? Yes, the paper said they looked like normal boys. But they still hunted a human for entertainment.
